Jannicke Ramsø began her Interior Design career in Norway, where she was born and raised, but later left her native country to pursue a degree in Interior Design in Las Vegas. After graduation, she spent several years with a renowned Design Studio surrounded by some of the best Interior Designers and Architects in Hospitality & Gaming Design.
In 2014 Jannicke decided to step away from it all to focus on her family and start her own firm. Today she is the Owner & Founder of Tiny Little Pads, an interior design studio for Children located in Downtown Las Vegas. Tiny Little Pads focuses solely on designing high end baby nurseries, children's rooms, playrooms, and playhouses. Each space is carefully created to be as unique as the child it is designed for. Most recently, Jannicke’s first playhouse design landed a spot on Daily Mail UK’s list of “Ten of the world’s most breathtaking playhouses.”
Summer has come to an end here in Las Vegas. Temperatures are dropping. It's almost time for leggings and boots. But before we put on the cozy layers of fall, and bring out the pumpkins, we are looking back at what this summer's Market had to offer in the Juvenile category.
A few weeks back, I shared my favorite showrooms featuring Children's Products from the main buildings. If you missed it, here's a recap for you.
This time around I'm giving you the scoop on what was happening over in The Pavilions. If you have not attended the show before, you should know that there are three Pavilions at Las Vegas Market. All a great extension of the show and well worth a visit. However, if you are looking for juvenile products, Pavilion One is where you would want to spend most of your time. Here you will find an amazing collection of kids' home décor, accessories, fashion and gifts. Sometimes even kids furniture.
As a Children's Interior Designer & Event Planner, Pavilion One is my dessert at Market - the most exciting part of my meal/visit). Don't get me wrong, the showrooms over at the main buildings are golden for our industry. They are the reason people come to the Market. However, there's something about The Pavilions in my eyes. Particularly Pavilion One for children's products, and that's where I am taking you today. This is where you typically find the newer, not quite as established brands. And with that comes a different vibe, more laid back, yet upbeat and trend-forward all at the same time. The vendors are so engaging – in a good way. I always find myself in deep conversations with people here. Not over politics or personal stuff, but over the simple idea of how the brand got started and the vision for its growth and future. It's incredibly inspiring.
So let's get off of the Pavilions Express Shuttle, and onto the red carpet. Yes, you arrive in style over here. Vegas Baby! Red carpet all the way. Make sure you have your camera in hand. It's time for a #Selfie before heading in.
Below are the booths and brands that made me stop, touch, talk and engage at Pavilion One this summer.
This was the first booth I stopped at this year. The little twinkles reflecting in the clear glass jars with wooden lids definitely caught my event styling eye. These gratitude glass jars made their debut at the Market this year. And as a fan off all things Down Under, this one got my seal of approval in a matter of seconds.
"Begin each day with an open heart by recording all that you are grateful for. Creating a wonderful jar of memories that celebrates the joy of being alive."
You got me. The jars come printed with different seasons in mind, like Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is also a wedding jar. And the reason the Gratitude Glass Jar made my list, the adorable collection for babies. Included with each jar is a stack of beautiful foiled-embossed wish cards where you, your friends and/or family can note thoughts about your life's blessings or milestones reached.
There is one thing I learned working as an Interior Designer for the casinos for years. You gotta look UP! There is so much great design happening above eye level. And UP, at the top shelf, is where I found these cute little ZzzooLIGHT animal lamps by the Italian brand Officina Crea. Inspired by paper origami, these trendy tot lamps are made of light weight, shatter proof, yet durable polypropylene. The fixtures are using a duel level LED light source making them very child friendly as they do no get hot and they can easily be changed from accent lighting to dimmed nightlight levels. And just like the name suggest there is a Zzzoo of animals to choose from.
I simply have a crush on this brand! It was love at first sight when I saw them last Market. I was not able to leave without purchasing some of these little loves for my studio. Although Twoolies were not new to me this time around, I simply had to stop and touch again. These bright and colorful animals are a joy to look at and will add an instant happiness to any store or space. I have been obsessed with wool products for children for years. Wool has a quality that lasts and a look that works for any style. Wool products are also awesome hand-me-downs and family heirlooms. Each little character is designed by architect Sindy Posso, and handmade using 100% natural wool, knitted on manual looms by Mayan weavers in South Mexico
Who doesn’t like neon lights? All kids do. And kids at heart. I do too; especially when they are as well manufactured and packaged as this Canadian based brand. Amped and Co’s signature Cinema Lightbox has gained world wide recognition. Since their launch in 2015, they have expanded their line to neon lights. They now offer a wide range of neon for both table and wall use. They also have a nice selection of LED neon lights. If you are a social media advocate, you have seen neon lights pop up everywhere in photos of kids’ spaces over the last year. The best part about neon lights? They are appropriate for any room in your home, from your baby’s nursery (as long as little hands don’t get to them), all the way up to the teenagers’ rooms. And when your kids grow tired of them, they would work in any other room in your house too!
This was my first meeting with Yogibo. Gotta admit, I had never heard of them before, although they have been around since 2009. Their fun and colorful display definitely made a statement. Yogibo is an American brand that started with the concept of making a different kind of beanbag and grew from there. My favorite product on display was the Caterpillar Roll, a versatile multi-function pillow available in bold stripes. The pillow measures just short of eight feet long and shows off a ten inch waist. It was surprisingly soft and lightweight. The cover is easily removable and machine washable. I can see this being a great addition to any playroom, little library or gym, kids room or family room. The roll can be used on its own or as a back to some of the other products they offer.
Here’s one for those of you who are looking for something different! A pop art company that do what they do in hopes of moving people in some way with their art. They moved me. The duo behind the brand go scavenger hunting to save old damaged books like world atlases, dictionaries, and rare music sheets to turn them into artwork with a message – some as old as 130 years. The artists paint on top of these vintage pages of paper using anything from digital outlining and photography to free-hand painting with charcoal, chalk, water colors, graphic pens or two-oil based crayons. What makes the artwork so special is not only that there is a story behind it, but the words and writings on the pages that are used as canvases also match the images on top. I cannot wait to use some of these pieces in an upcoming project.
Last but not least, I wanted to share the “cutest bums in town” with you. Doodle Pants. This brand sums up what Las Vegas Market is to me, colorful, lighthearted, fun, and inspiring. Since becoming a mom, I’ve been a sucker for cute baby and toddler leggings. They are comfortable, fun, and practical. With an array of prints and colors to choose from, this is cuteness heaven. Pair the leggings with one of their adorable animal hoodies, and I say you are good to go for the rest of the day. Easy on you. Comfortable for the kids. Win-Win.
Thank you for tuning into my recap of a few favorites from Pavilion One. Be sure to hop on the Pavilions Express Shuttle next Market to stop by and see what's in store for you in each of The Pavilions!See Winter's Featured Baby/Kids/Juvenile Exhibitors
