Best of the West: Hilde Leiaghat

This summer, the Best of the West will be at Las Vegas Market! Come and meet a brand new group of some of today’s top talents in interior design and retail, and join us for an engaging panel discussion with them on what’s new in “West Coast Style”! As a sneak preview of what’s to come, we peeked behind the curtain with each of our Best of the West influencers to see what West Coast style means to them, and what trends they’re most looking forward to exploring this season and into 2020. Read on for features showcasing each of our panelists, and don’t miss the Best of the West panel on Sunday, July 28 for an even more in-depth discussion. We’ll see you at market!

Hilde Leiaghat grew up in Belgium, where she and her father visited flea markets with a shared love for discovering wonderful and unusual treasures. After managing four successful Pom Pom Interiors retail stores for over twenty years, Hilde and her husband, Reza Leiaghat decided to launch Pom Pom at Home as a wholesale business. Pom Pom at Home is a home textile brand that embodies that sophisticated, yet relaxed look that Hilde loves.

West Coast Style is… “Sophisticated, relaxed, classic, neutral hues.”

Upcoming Trends She’s Eyeing at Market

For me, I see a sense of updated romance coming back with florals patterns and diffused colors. With us, for example, pinks turned into blush and greens turn into moss.

Favorite Timeless Trend

Classic design elements. For example, a classic stripe pattern, black & white designs (or in my case, white bedding), these are always a must.

Best Thing About the Las Vegas Market Experience

Las Vegas Market is a very pleasant shopping experience. It offers the best West Coast brands. The market is very entertaining and has great ambiance – everywhere you go you will find food and drinks!

Best Ever Find at Market

Since I attend every Vegas Market, I find some time to browse as many of the showrooms as I can, and it gives me a chance to find inspiration and see what the trends are. Although I don’t get to do a lot of shopping, I think the best find I get from market is just inspiration itself.

How Important is it to See Items in Person?

So important! I think shop owners and designers need to see and feel for themselves what they are buying so they can inform their clients in return. In our case, the hand is everything. When people come to see our products, touching the linens makes them want them. Ultimately, that’s what it’s all about.

Shopping List or No List?

With no list, planning to take it all in as I go.

Market Shopping Tips for First-Timers

Give yourself several days to take it all in. In the beginning, make sure to take your time to look around and figure out what speaks to you. Then let it sink in, and later you can then return to the showrooms to make your final decisions.
