First Look Summer 2017: Modern Traditions
Las Vegas Market’s First Look trends and new products program readies for the holidays in “Modern Traditions,” an exclusive vignette that mixes metals and showcases a spectrum of proven blue hues. Our approach for this headliner: Provide a color-focused backdrop for holiday decorating that downplays novelty, yet still strikes a festive, modern mood.
In dinnerware and barware, metals make the difference between a tablescape that’s tired and one that’s refreshing and inviting. Bands of gold on classic forms exude swank and sophistication — Arte Italica’s new Semplice barware is a perfect example. (See the collection in the First Look product displays, on display July 30-Aug. 3 during Las Vegas Market.) Roost, a brand represented in the Fine Lines showroom, serves up another iteration with its handcrafted chased metal serving pieces and artisanal glassware in watery blue and warm golden hues.

In Modern Traditions, market attendees can take a seat at the shapely Riviera stainless steel-and-glass table from Lexington Home Brands. The pedestal base exudes an urban, Millennials vibe — so, too, does TOV Furniture’s Haute navy velvet dining chair with gold base.
Watery blues appear in the holiday ornaments category this season. Look for glittery selections from Raz Imports in the First Look display, as well as knit, felt and metal charmers in both cool grays and blues from Accent Décor.
Why all the blue in Modern Traditions? Consumers want more vibrant colors in their homes, according to a recent study by Rochester, NY-based Harris Poll for Sherwin-Williams, and blue is a safe starting point.
A majority of Americans (58 percent) believe more vibrant colors should be used throughout the home, and blue was chosen by 62 percent of Americans as the color they like most. Strong preference for blue is consistent across genders, regions and age, according to the study.
So have a blue Christmas — First Look's Modern Traditions spin on home for the holidays shows how.
