1. “Plan your work and work your plan” – Be planful. Create your personal road map for the show, use the APP to plan number of days and pathways through the content that matters most. Move with intention and keep a brisk pace booth to booth, showroom to showroom. Take a picture of showroom, booth name + number and key items you are interested in with item # or key info captured in photo as well. Capture the key details in notes on your phone, tablet or small notebook. Ask the vendor to email latest price sheet and digital catalog. Have a ready exit line like “On a schedule, lots to cover, going now, thank you.”
2. “Take in the view” – Be open. When walking between floors, in the temporaries, covering parts of the show that are not your focus, look up and around. Note trends, themes, colors, textures, lighting. What is all over market, where is the energy at the show, what are other people excited about. Take pictures to inspire, document themes, mark words or see common trends, what fun creatures are having their moment and influences from other sectors. Open your vision to possibilities and new, fresh, different market notes.
3. “Drop Into to Joy + Connection” – Be connected. Most of us have had so much isolation during the Pandemic. Take time this year to see friends, make new ones, connect with others at market, ask questions about their business, join a seminar, listen to a speaker, enjoy the happy hours or fun that is allowed to happen again. We all need to drop into the joy of what we do and why we do what we do. Small moments of joy lead to a lifetime of happy moments and forever heartprints from connecting at Market.
