First Look trend scouts are cooling down this season in a color palette-led vignette called ARCTIC. Icelandic mountains, Norwegian fjords, and Pacific Northwest forests, as well as water effects and frost-covered terrain, are reference points — see this “landscape” (and three more) materialize in Las Vegas Market’s First Look displays, Jan. 27-31.


ARCTIC features brands such as Charleston Forge — the company’s hand-hammered Ashford drinks table in the Brushed Silver finish is an artisanal standout. Classic Home’s Element square, low-profile lounge chair, meanwhile, is the ultimate in cozy, casual comfort. ZUO’s Chapel chair features a gray-blue fabric that recalls the coloring of a hearty Blue spruce. And Manhattan Comfort’s Essence open-concept media console offers a light, airy look in subdued blend of taupe and gray finishes.


Pinnacle by Palliser’s Peaks and Valley custom area rug lays a groundwork for the ARCTIC display. A linear, modernist pattern is hand-tufted from wool, viscose, and cotton; the silver colorway conveys a cool mood. Ditto UMA Home Decor’s velvet and beaded pillows, as well as HiEnd Accent’s fur-trimmed throws.

Housewares convey the ARCTIC vignette’s coolness, too: W & P’s Porter portable lunch bowls, travel bottles, mugs, and tumblers in Blush, Mint, Slate, and Charcoal are a best example. And don’t miss Paddywax’s new Makes You Wanna Say soy wax candle collection. Here, the fragrances’ names — Yeah, Oooh, Whoa, Yummy, and Ahhh— do the talking.

FIRST LOOKIn addition to the product displays, this season’s First Look program includes a 40-page publication filled with new products, a CEU-accredited seminar led by FIRST LOOK Editor Julie Smith Vincenti on Monday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. in WorldView on Sixteen, Building B, and two new showroom tours that follow two category tracks — choose the home furnishings-focused session Monday, Jan. 28, from 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m., or the gifts/seasonal track Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
