The use of natural materials, like wood, stone or raffia, and spaces that include natural geometries, like fractals and curves, can be highly evocative and satisfy the human need for connecting with our wild world. We are craving that, making biophilic design the mindset of the moment. We take a sum-of-the-parts approach, employing the atmosphere created with light, architecture, access to nature and furnishings and accessories that evoke nature in our designs. We’ve been finding a lot of unique pieces that literally mimic nature and others that are more subtle. Whether they exhibit the golden ratio or the Fibonacci sequence, such designs simply make us feel good and balanced.
Alicia and Eva, how do you “shop” market? (building by building, shopping list, appointments, etc.)
"There is SO much to see, we have developed our fast and furious method of shopping. We usually get excited about a particular showroom, and then decide ok, we will systematically tackle that building, top to bottom. We make sure to always take a photo of the showroom name, then we snap lots of photos and business cards. When we go back through our camera rolls, we know what showroom and contact person we need to connect with, and we have images of the items we loved there."
