Market officials planning a summer blockbuster show for July 2007 Sands Expo Center to house half a million square feet of temporary exhibitsLas Vegas Market—the semi-annual home furnishings trade event emerging as the destination for the international home furnishings industry—is gearing up for a summer blockbuster show that matches the energy and excitement felt at January’s Market. In addition to the market’s permanent showrooms at Buildings A and B and the on-site Pavilions, more than 700 companies will be featured off site in temporary booth space. Las Vegas Market will bring its temporary exhibitors to the fabulous Sands Expo Center in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and adjoining the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Market organizers are planning exciting changes for the off-site temporary show. The temporary exhibits at Sands Expo will fill 550,000 square feet of space. The show will feature distinct product neighborhoods and introduce new segments. Market organizers plan to present eight distinctly branded show sections within the Sands Expo Center that will function as shows within Market. Featured areas will include Furniture; Lighting, featuring portable and fixture lighting companies; Vegas Accessory & Gift; Home Collections, displaying the latest in home accent furniture; Interior LifestyleSM USA, organized in conjunction with Messe Frankfurt; Sleep, which will include top-of-the-line bed and mattress manufacturers; and Resource, a destination for vendors and services that support the home furnishings industry. In addition, Market officials plan to highlight Design & Living, which will be a juried area featuring trend-setting companies from around the world. “We are very excited to be at the Las Vegas Sands as our temporary venue in the summer of 2007, and at half a million square feet, the show will be an absolute knockout,” said Tim Branscome, director of international business for WMC. “We plan to feature an enhanced ‘show-in-show’ format on the show floor, devoting more floor space to specific segments and creating brands. This elevated presentation of the temporaries will help open the door to new exhibiting companies and create an easy-to-shop show for buyers of specific product categories.” Looking ahead, the Winter 2008 Market will take place Jan. 28 through Feb. 1, 2008, at WMC’s Buildings A, B and Pavilions. The temporary exhibits will be located at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino and its Conference Center, which will house 350,000 square feet of exhibitors. At MGM Grand, WMC is booking some of its guest rooms in The Signature at MGM Grand, a luxury all-suite hotel that debuted in May 2006.
