First Look 2017: iGen

Enter an iGeneration domain as Las Vegas Market’s First Look curators imagine the bedroom of a tween-age digital native. See iGen and three additional vignettes July 30-Aug. 3 in the Las Vegas Market courtyard.

Born between the mid-1990s and the mid-2000s, iGen — also tagged Post-Millennials, Plurals or Generation Z — accounts for about 26 percent of the United States population. By 2020, they will make up one-third. Millennials held the “largest demographic” mantle for a brief time, but Post-Millennials wear the honor now.

Eager marketers and retailers are focusing on these up-and-coming consumers, and for good reason: iGen holds $44 billion in purchase power; they enjoy collaborative engagement (read: personalized online shopping experiences); 74 percent spend five hours or more online during their free time; and they alternate between screens, apps and chats with dizzying dexterity.

So how does a brand capture iGen’s attention between all the streaming and socializing? In the home furnishings sector, statement-making color and personalization are important features. In gifts and accessories, humor, edginess and even quirkiness are appealing attributes.


First Look’s iGen vignette will showcase orange-kissed reds and unfussy wood finishes against a Pure White background.
